It’s been about three weeks since VaporFi sent Seven Report their new VOX II Starter Kit, which includes the VOX II 50 Watt variable wattage mod and, in this case, the Volt Hybrid sub ohm tank. VaporFi offers you a choice of three different tanks when you order the VOX II Starter Kit. There’s the Volt Hybrid Tank, the Rebel Tank and the Bolt RDA. Packaged with the VOX II Mod the kit is listed at $199.99, which is a savings of about $30.
I’ve been using both the mod and the tank extensively since they arrived, in fact, the VOX II and Volt have become my go-to set up for ejuice reviews and daily vaping. Despite the categorization as a “starter kit,” these components are not entry level devices. They’re high end, finely crafted workhorses.
VOX II Mod
The VOX II is a variable wattage mod with a maximum output of 50 watts. It’ll fire coils down to 0.2 ohm. Its 510 connector is spring loaded. It features five programmable wattage settings, a feature I wasn’t sure I’d use that much, but one that has become a favorite, making the VOX II even easier and more convenient to use.
The mod’s OLED display is bright and sharp and has all the information you need. VaporFi includes an external 18650 battery in the package, and you can charge that battery while it’s in the VOX II and continue vaping while it’s charging with the included micro USB cable.
It has all of the standard safety features and you can lock the device to prevent accidental changes to your wattage settings and to keep the device from firing when you put it in your pocket, briefcase or purse.
The VOX II is a solid, dependable, well engineered mod. It fits my hand comfortably and feels substantial. And it’s good looking. It comes with a brushed stainless steel finish and VaporFi offers rubber silicone sleeves for the VOX II in black, pink, clear, blue and red.
The only issue I have with the VOX II is the placement of the micro USB charging port on the bottom of the unit, which makes it difficult stand it upright while it’s charging.
Volt Hybrid Tank
The Volt ships with two OCC (organic cotton coil) atomizers, one rated at 0.5 ohm and the other at 1.2 ohm, and a Mini RBA base. It holds 4.5 ml of ejuice, is 510 threaded and bottom filling. In addition to the coils and RBA, VaporFi also includes an extra Pyrex tank, two spare pre-wrapped coils for the RBA, a package of organic Japanese cotton, spare O-rings, screws and a screwdriver.
Made of stainless steel and Pyrex, the Volt is a solid, good looking tank, with the signature VaporFi bright green represented in the O-rings. VaporFi based the Volt on the Kangertech Subtank Mini, but made some significant improvements, including wider ejuice ports and new insulators.
The adjustable airflow system on the Volt allows you to customize your vaping experience, from a very tight warm draw, to a cooler very airy draw. The adjustment collar twists easily and locks into place with a tactile “click” at each setting.
The combination of the organic cotton, larger ejuice ports and that adjustable airflow system means that the Volt produces loads of tasty, billowy vapor. And those coils last a good long time, I’m still using the original 0.5 ohm OCC that came installed in the Volt.
If there’s any issue with the Volt it’s one that’s not exclusive to this tank. In fact I’ve noticed it much less with the Volt than with other tanks, but once in a while a little ejuice will be noticeable in the airflow ports.
Either of these two devices will provide plenty of vaping pleasure, and if you purchase them as a kit you can be assured that they’ll work together flawlessly. One of the highlights of the VOX II Starter Kit is the VaporFi industry leading 30 day, no questions asked money back guarantee and the 90 day warranty on the Volt Hybrid Tank and the 6 month warranty on the VOX II Mod.
