The Volt Hybrid Tank represents VaporFi’s entry into what is fast becoming a very crowded sub ohm tank field. The Volt is based on the popular Kangertech Subtank Mini, but this is much more than a rebranded device. VaporFi came up with the concept, supplied the specs and had final approval throughout the process, from initial engineering to testing, final models approvals and production. The Volt Hybrid boasts wider juice channels and all new insulators.

The Volt is 510 threaded, 22 mm in diameter and 70 mm tall with an ejuice capacity of 4.5 ml. The hardware on the Volt is stainless steel, including the removable drip tip, and the tank itself is Pyrex. The adjustable airflow system has three settings with ports on two sides of the tanks. VaporFi includes two OCC (organic cotton coil) atomizers with organic Japanese cotton, and a Mini RBA base that comes with one prewrapped coil installed and two extras. When purchased as a stand alone item, VaporFi includes a 30 ml bottle of their Blend of the Month ejuice.

Performance: The Volt produces loads of tasty vapor, thanks in part to those wide juice channels and the purity of the organic Japanese cotton. Unlike other wicking material, organic cotton does not get in the way of the flavor of any of the ejuices I’ve used with these or similar coils.

vaporfi volt hybrid official 01That adjustable airflow also adds to the overall vaping experience of the Volt, allowing you to dial in a very tight, warmer vape, an airy somewhat cooler vape, or something in between. The adjustments are easy, just twist the collar to expose the airflow port of your choosing. You’ll know you have it properly aligned by the little click it makes.

Vaporfi rates the suggested wattage for the 0.5 ohm coil at 15 – 30 watts and for the 1.2 ohm coil at 12 – 25 watts. These ranges are etched into the side of each coil. The Volt Hybrid Tank comes with the 0.5 ohm installed in the tank. I’ve been using it for a little better than two weeks with a pretty wide assortment of ejuice and it shows no sign of burn out or wear.

One note on those OCC atomizers, never dry fire them, that will burn that organic cotton and render your coil useless. Always prime a new coil by dripping a few drops of ejuice directly into the coil onto the cotton and add a drop onto the cotton that’s exposed through the juice ports. I find that the cotton tends to hold onto the flavor of ejuices longer than other wicking material, even after you’ve filled the tank with a new flavor. By priming the coil with the new flavor of ejuice you can help flush that previous flavor a little more quickly.

Features: VaporFi has packed the Volt with features, in the engineering of the tank itself and the extras it includes in the package. Wide ejuice ports, the new insulation material and adjustable airflow system provide billowy clouds of delicious vapor. The organic cotton adds to that experience. The inclusion of two OCC atomizers, the Mini RBA base with two extra prewrapped coils, a package of organic Japanese cotton, extra screws and O-rings and a spare Pyrex tank add to the feature-rich list.

The features that you can’t see are VaporFi’s industry leading 30 day no questions asked money back guarantee and a 90 day warranty.

vaporfi volt hybrid contents officialQuality: VaporFi has engineered a superior piece of equipment in the Volt Hybrid Tank. The stainless steel is solid, the Pyrex thick and sturdy. The threading is smooth and precise. And the OCC atomizers provide pure flavor without any interference, and they last a good long time.

Like just about every other tank I’ve used, regardless of manufacturer or the coil’s wicking material, the Volt does allow a little ejuice seepage. It’s much less than on other tanks, it doesn’t run down the side of the tank or the mod, but I’ve occasionally noticed a little ejuice collecting in the airflow ports.

Looks: Lots of pyrex and stainless steel give the Volt a very contemporary look. The cubed shape of the OCC atomizer connecting to the chimney of the tank is visible, even through darker colored ejuices and that adds to the overall look. And VaporFi’s bright green O-rings really make the Volt distinctive looking.

Price/Value: VaporFi lists the Volt Hybrid Tank at $59.99, and that includes a 30 ml bottle of their Blend of the Month ejuice, which sells separately for $15.99. With those two OCC atomizers, wider ejuice ports, the Mini RBA Base, the extra pyrex tank, O-rings and prewrapped coilsl for the RBA base, the Volt is a great deal. When you factor in the 30 day money back guarantee and the 90 day warranty, the Volt is a no brainer, especially if you’ve been waiting to try a sub ohm tank with an included Mini RBA base.

If the Volt is your first sub ohm tank you should keep in mind that those OCC atomizers are a little more expensive than standard coils for less robust tanks. But they last a good deal longer and provide superior flavor. VaporFi offers replacement OCC atomizers in resistances of 0.5 ohm, 1.2 ohm and 1.5 ohm.

vaporfi volt and vox ii official 01You also need to have a mod that’s capable of firing those sub ohm coils, not all of them will. So if it’s been awhile since you upgraded your mod this would be a good time to do so. VaporFi packages their VOX II 50 Watt variable wattage mod with the Volt Hybrid Tank (or one of two others, it’s your choice) as the VOX II Starter Kit for $199.99, a savings of $30 if you purchased each component separately.

I’ve been using the Volt Hybrid Tank for the past two weeks and it’s quickly become my new go-to tank. The 4.5 ml capacity is just right for a full day of vaping. The organic cotton coils provide loads and loads of tasty vapor and the adjustable airflow allows me to get the most taste out of every flavor of ejuice I’ve put into it.

I tested the VaporFi Volt Hybrid tank on a VaporFi VOX II Mod with a wide assortment of ejuices. VaporFi provided the Volt for the purpose of this review. VaporFi is a Seven Report advertiser.
