Pros

  • Complex flavor profile
  • Creamy vapor
  • Slightly nutty finish

Cons

  • Banana may not be for everyone

I’ve always kind of wanted a monkey. Never got one though. Growing up I’d occasionally broach the subject with my parents. Their response was nearly always the same, “You kids can barely take care of the dog, how would you manage a monkey?”

Since I’ve been married I’ve brought up the idea with my wife a few times. Never really discussed it at any length, she’d usually just laugh. The dream of monkey ownership finally died when I discovered that Georgia, where I live, outlawed private citizens from owning monkeys. Shame.

I still believe a monkey would make an excellent pet. It could be trained to make coffee, walk the dogs, even fill my tank with ejuice. Oh sure, they do have a reputation for throwing poo around when they get angry and they’ve been known to gnaw on the faces of pesky neighbors. Still, once in a while I daydream about it.

I’m wondering if the mixologists at Royal Heights Vapor don’t share my affinity for little primates. They’ve developed an amazingly complex ejuice that they call Flying Monkey. It’s a banana based ejuice, but it’s so much more. They describe Flying Monkey as, “Banana pudding wrapped in vanilla wafers and ice cream drizzled with sweet, creamy caramel and topped with a hint of whipped cream, chocolate and nuts. Every decadent layer vaped is a delicious surprise!”

The Numbers As Tested

Nicotine Level        6 MG
PG/VG Ratio          40/60

Flying Monkey is a full-bodied, complex taste sensation. On the inhale there’s the slightly thick and creamy flavor of banana pudding, sweet and fresh. That’s quickly joined by a symphony of secondary tastes, chocolate, sweet cream, and a hint of caramel, but none of it overpowers that initial banana note.

On the exhale all of those flavors remain, joined by the slightest essence of nuts. The vapor of Flying Monkey is rich and smooth and a little on the warm side. The throat hit is mild. Flying Monkey has an aroma that’s a little like banana pudding warming on the stove while you’re fixing a banana split on the counter, rich, sweet and tempting.

To get the most out of the flavor profile of Flying Monkey you really need to vape it over an extended period of time and at different wattage and/or temperature settings. It’s sweet, but not overpoweringly so. I especially enjoyed it after a light meal with a hot cup of coffee, which seems to really bring out those secondary flavors.

I vaped Flying Monkey for about three days in a SMOK TFV4 tank powered by a Kangertech KBOX 200. Royal Heights Vapor provided the bottle of Flying Monkey I sampled for the purpose of this review.
