  • Secondary flavors overshadowed by the peach

Annabel Lee is the subject of a darkly romantic and tragic poem by Edgar Allan Poe. Poe never revealed the identity of the inspiration for the poem which has served to heighten the mystery and tragedy of the piece. Skull & Raven chose Annabel Lee as the name for this mysterious, yet delightful, ejuice flavor from their signature line. The official description of Annabel Lee (the ejuice, not the literary character) is, “Annabel Lee, the love of Poe’s life, was a true southern belle. This flavor is a nod to the life and times of Charleston southern belles. We started with a sweet and decadent peaches and cream and added just a dash of champagne for all those aristocratic women of days gone by. This brings together sweet, creamy and tangy like never before.”

The Numbers As Tested

Nicotine Level     24 MG
PG/VG Ratio     50/50

Annabel Lee is a light to medium bodied flavor. Surprisingly, it has a slightly stronger throat hit than some of the other, darker flavored, ejuices from Skull & Raven. The aroma and the taste are dominated by the peach flavor. The champagne flavor is subdued, but does provide a hint of mystery to the experience. If we didn’t know it was in there, we probably would not have guessed it.

The overall taste and vaping experience that Annabel Lee provides is wonderful. The flavor is quite pleasant and enjoyable, even if you’re not a big fan of fruity ejuices. You know it’s peach, but it’s not overtly fruity. It tastes like what we imagine the fictional Mackinaw peaches must have tasted like (the Mackinaw peach was from Oregon and only ripe for two weeks a year and was invented for an episode of Seinfeld).

We especially enjoy vaping Annabel Lee as the day is winding down and the sun is slowly disappearing over the horizon. It puts us in mind of sitting on an Antebellum style porch on a warm day as afternoon gives way to evening. But we’ve been vaping Annabel Lee for nearly three solid days, all day, and there’s not a bad time to enjoy it.

Skull & Raven offers Annabel Lee in 15 ml, 30 ml and 60 ml sizes for $8, $15 and $28 respectively. Available nicotine levels are 12 MG, 18 MG and 24 MG. All of Skull & Raven’s ejuices are mixed in a 50/50 kosher food grade PG/VG ratio and include natural flavor extracts. We tested Annabel Lee in a Kangertech Aerotank Mega powered by an Innokin iTaste MVP 2. Skull & Raven provided the bottle we sampled for the purpose of this review.
