Grapefruit is an acquired taste. Let’s face it, grapefruit is really tart, not as outright sour as lemon, but it’s eye-wateringly bitter all the same. Here in the US there are three main ways to eat the grapefruit; grapefruit juice, sliced in two and spooning out individual sections, and in fruit salad. And two of those methods of eating grapefruit are served almost exclusively at breakfast. That tart taste is wonderful at startling you into a state of wakefulness.
While I have acquired a certain appreciation for grapefruit I will admit it has some problems. Grapefruit juice is usually served in small glasses and it’s generally safest to drink it all in one big gulp, especially if you’ve recently brushed your teeth.
Eating a halved grapefruit requires up to a half cup of sugar be dumped on top of it, which certainly dilutes any health benefits. And if you misjudge the angle of your spoon you’re likely to squirt yourself in the eye with juice which feels a lot like being spit at by a venomous cobra.
And unless you eat a fruit salad that contains grapefruit within about 30 seconds of the addition of the grapefruit you run the risk of every other fruit acquiring that bitter note.
When I read the flavor description of Relapse from the Alternate Cig Vapors Anonymous line and saw “grapefruit” in there, I thought, “This should be interesting.”
That description says, “ passion fruit with delicious grapefruit taste.” The full description reads, “Vapors Anonymous encourages your vaping. We have given the title to this eliquid, ‘Relapse,’ as a reminder that vaping is a better life alternative. Live in the moment and enjoy yourself. Don’t relapse, just vape.”

On the inhale Relapse is slightly sweet, thanks in large part to the passion fruit, with just enough of a tart note to let you know that there is grapefruit in there. The two actually complement each other quite nicely. The flavor on the exhale is a little more subdued, yet maintains a certain sweetness.
The vapor is light and a little warm and the throat hit is in the mild range. The aroma has a tropical element to it and is very pleasant and inviting, thanks again to the passion fruit which is often added to other fruit juices for that very reason.
Relapse is a very interesting vape experience, for all the right reasons. The combination of the passion fruit and grapefruit provide a juicy, slightly sweet vape that’s refreshing all day. Alternate Cig got the blend just right with this ejuice.
I vaped Relapse for several days and found it enjoyable any time of day, but it was especially good in the morning. For lovers of fruit and citrus based ejuices, Relapse is a must try.
