I’m doing my best to NOT make the obvious “good things in small packages” comment here, but it’s not easy. The Kimsun TC40W Mini Kit is an extra small package. And it is surprisingly good.
When I first opened the package from Kimsun a couple of weeks ago my initial impression was that this is the smallest mod I’ve ever seen. And then I wondered if it would produce much vapor at all. While that first impression still holds true, Kimsun could have named this kit the TC40W Micro, the second has proved false. The Kimsun TC40W Mini Kit puts out ample vapor and produces rich flavor.
The kit includes the TC40W mod and STL Tank II. The mod is variable wattage with a range of 5 – 40 watts, and temperature control with a range of 300° F – 600° F and 150° C – 315° C. It will fire Nickel 200 and Titanium coils in TC mode. It will fire coils with a resistance of 0.15 – 2.0 ohm.
The mod is powered by an internal 1100 mAh battery. Kimsun includes a charging cable that connects to the micro USB port on the bottom of the device. There are three buttons on the TC40W Mini, all on the front of the mod; the fire button and the “+” and “-” buttons. The LED display is on the top of the TC40W Mini.
Five clicks of the fire button turns the unit on or off. To enter the menu click the fire button three times. Then click it once more to cycle through the options; PPP for variable wattage, and four TC options, Ti F, Ti C, Ni F, Ni C. Once the option you want is displayed click the “+” or “-” button to select. Adjust wattage or temperature using the “+” and “-” buttons. Wattage changes are in 0.1 watt increments and temperature changes are in single degree increments.
When you press the fire button with the TC40W Mini in standby mode the LED will display the battery level as a percentage. Then it will display your selected temperature or wattage. In temperature control mode the display will show the resistance of the attached coil as you press the fire button to vape.
The STL Tank II is a 1.1 ml capacity, bottom fill tank. It comes with a 0.32 ohm Titanium coil attached. Unscrew the top of the tank from the base to fill it. There are two fill holes against the outer wall of the tank.
Twist the collar at the base of the tank to adjust airflow. There are two airflow ports on the STL Tank II. Each has a stopper to keep the collar from twisting too far.
When using a new coil put a few drops of ejuice into the center of the coil and onto the ejuice ports to prime it. You need to calibrate the resistance of a new TC coil. Do this by holding in the “+” and “-” buttons together for four seconds until the display reads “CHE.” The coil should be at room temperature when you calibrate its resistance.

Performance: With a package this small, and the Kimsun TC40W Mini Kit is extremely small, you might expect to have to give up some performance. And while I’ve gotten more vapor production out of bigger devices, I’m still impressed with the amount and flavor of the vapor the TC40W Mini produces. Especially given the small size of the coils and their ejuice ports.
The LED is bright and easy to read. The menu system is easy to manipulate and pretty intuitive. And thought the STL Tank II holds only 1.1 ml of ejuice it lasts a good while, especially in TC mode.
Features: Kimsun gave the TC40W Mini Kit a pretty impressive set of features; 40 watts of power, temperature control with Nickel 200 and Titanium coils and two Titanium coils included with the kit, along with a charging cable.
The LCD is bright and big, for this tiny mod anyway. The 1100 mAh internal will fully charge in just a couple of hours. Kimsun packs all of the standard features into the TC40W Mini mod including short circuit and low voltage protection. And the STL Tank II has five fold seal protection to prevent leaking.
Quality: The aluminum alloy body of the Kimsun TC40W Mini mod keeps it light, but solid. The buttons are work well without any jiggling. The LED display is bright and easy to read. The threading on the tank is smooth and all the parts fit flush. Kimsun has produced a quality piece of vaping equipment with the TC40W Mini Kit.
Looks: At first glance adjectives like “tiny,” “cute,” and maybe even “adorable” come to mind when trying to describe the Kimsun TC40W Mini Kit. But upon closer inspection, this is a pretty good looking device. The lines are clean, the buttons and logos subdued. The silver on top of the mod and on the tank present a nice contrast to the darker body of the mod.
Price/Value: Forget the size of the TC40W Mini Kit for a second. This is a device with 40 watts of power and temperature control that works with Nickel 200 and Titanium coils. It includes the tank, two Titanium coils and charging cable. Any kit with those kind of features and performance is going to meet the needs of most beginning to intermediate vapers. And for advanced vapers it makes a nice back up or travel mod, especially given its size.
Seven Report review product supplier, Heaven Gifts, has the Kimsun TC40W Mini Kit available for $38.80. That’s a really good price for a unit with all of these features.
I’ve been using the TC40W Mini Kit for a couple of weeks with a variety of ejuices. Each flavor has been rich and vapor production has been more than ample. It’s easy to carry in a pocket and is an ejuice miser.
