I like to think of myself as pretty open-minded, amenable to new ideas and experiences. That’s especially true when it comes to food, I’ll try just about any food at least once. But there are a couple of areas where I tend to be a little more stubborn, dogmatic even, especially when it comes to food. Like vegetables masquerading as desserts.
For instance, carrot cake. Come on, carrots in a cake? That goes against just about fiber in my being. Now you might be thinking, well how about pumpkin pie then? Well, first of all, technically pumpkin is a fruit. Second of all, it’s delicious, so fruit, vegetable, no matter what you call it, pumpkin pie is just fine by me.
Running a close second to my stance on vegetables in desserts on my “not gonna happen” list is citrus fruits as the principle flavor in baked goods, particularly cakes and pies. There’s just something about the tart to sour nature of most citrus that doesn’t appeal to me when it’s mixed into something that I expect to be sweet and creamy. No, you’ll not catch me suggesting a lemon meringue pie for dessert.
So when I opened a recent shipment from Deluxe Ejuice and saw that one of the flavors was Key Lime Pie, I thought, “This is going to be interesting.” One of the best parts of doing these reviews for Seven Report is that it exposes me to a wide range of ejuice flavors that I probably would not try if left to my own devices. But when a company sends me such a flavor I put it through the same objective and thorough process as a flavor that I know I’m going to enjoy. More often than not I’ve been pleasantly surprised by these ejuices.
Deluxe Ejuice describes Key Lime Pie, “Based on the classic dessert from the American south, this amazingly accurate ejuice tastes like the most amazing slice of heaven you have ever had. A sweet and creamy tartness with a thick graham cracker crust and a fat dollop of real whipped cream, this vape will bring back memories of childhood bliss. An absolute favorite here at Deluxe Ejuice, a must try!”
The Numbers As Tested
Nicotine Level 6 MG
PG/VG Ratio 30/70
The taste of limes is generally described as bitter/sweet, as opposed to the straight up sour flavor of lemons. But Key limes, native to the Florida Keys, have a higher acidity level than other limes, are paler green to yellow when ripe and a slightly stronger bitter/sweet quality to the flavor. Whoever picked out the lime flavor in the Deluxe Ejuice Key Lime Pie made sure they had authentic key lime.
On the inhale the first sensation is that bitter tartness, but it’s quickly joined by a lightly sweet juicy note and just a hint of cream. On the exhale the flavor smooths out a little more and that whipped cream note is clearly evident behind the lime.
The vapor is amazingly creamy and smooth, and just a little warm. Key Lime Pie has a mild throat hit and a very realistic lime aroma. It’s been quite some time since I had a slice of real Key lime pie, but this vape is a dead ringer for it.
If you’re a fan of citrus based ejuice you’ll really enjoy Key Lime Pie. If you’re OK with citrus, but prefer something a little sweeter, then you really ought to try Key Lime Pie. It’s definitely lime-based, but that creamy texture and essence of whipped cream move it out of a strictly fruity category and solidly into the dessert arena. I vaped it for two days and found myself refilling my tank more often than I thought I would have to.
Deluxe Ejuice offers Key Lime Pie in 10 ml bottles for $6.99, 15 ml bottles for $7.99, 30 ml bottles for $9.99 and 120 ml bottles for $33.99. Available nicotine levels are 0 MG, 3 MG, 6 MG, 18 MG and 24 MG. Deluxe Ejuice will mix Key Lime Pie for you in a wide range of PG/VG ratios.
I vaped Key Lime Pie in a VaporFi Volt Hybrid Tank on a VaporFi VOX II 50 watt mod. Deluxe Ejuice provided the bottle of Key Lime Pie that I sampled for the purpose of this review.
