I’ve been vaping with the Kangertech IKEN Kit for over a month. It’s one of Kanger’s AKD (Advanced Kangertech Design) series of products. And so far, it’s the most impressive kit in that series, and it’s one of the highest scoring products I’ve ever reviewed. It’s not perfect, but it’s very good.
The Kangertech IKEN Kit includes the IKEN Mod and the IKEN Tank. The mod is powered by an internal 5100 mAh battery. It will fire coils with a resistance range of 0.1 ohm – 5.0 ohm. The IKEN Mod fires in variable wattage (VW) temperature control (TC) with Ni, Ti or SS coils and Temperature Coefficient of Resistance (TCR: M1, 2M) modes.
The mod has a wattage range of 1 – 230 watts and a temperature range of 200° – 600° F or 100° – 300° C. There are three operating modes on the IKEN Mod, Beginner, Intermediate and Expert. The IKEN Tank is a top-filler with a 4 ml capacity. It uses the Kangertech SSOCC coils, and comes with two 0.2 ohm coils. These coils have a suggested wattage range of 25 – 60 watts.
Kangertech has given the tank what they refer to as “U” airflow technology. Airflow is at the top of the tank, which eliminates the leakage problems that plague so many tanks with airflow at the bottom. Kangertech subjected the IKEN Tank to 500 independent tests over three months to make sure it remained leak free.
Unscrew the top cover of the tank and insert your dripper or the tip of the ejuice bottle into one of the fill ports to fill the tank. To swap coils, unscrew the coil base from the tank, remove the old coil and screw in a new one. Be sure to prime new coils and allow them to soak in a full tank for a few minutes before vaping with them.

Performance: The Kangertech IKEN Kit is a solid performer. The SSOCC coils provide a pretty good amount of vapor and excellent flavor, bringing out the subtlest notes of every ejuice I’ve vaped with them. The mod is responsive and the internal battery has been giving me a pretty full day of vaping per charge, though I have been keeping the wattage set at 55 with those SSOCC coils.
Features: The IKEN Kit is loaded with features, more than I’ll ever use to be honest. Three operating modes, VW, TC and TCR output modes are just the beginning. Kangertech put a color TFT display on the unit and you can adjust the brightness. One of the coolest little features is the vape timer, though it’s placed in a position that makes it easy to miss, it’s a little guy running across the screen.
The only feature that is a little puzzling to me is that max wattage of 230 watts. Kangertech uses the SSOCC coils which have a max suggested wattage of 60 watts. To use more of that wattage range you need to slap a different tank on the mod.
Kanger offers the IKEN in black, red, yellow, green and cyan.
Quality: Here’s the most important quality feature to me, the IKEN Tank does not leak. Now I have noticed a little condensation and occasionally, if I get sloppy filling it there will be some ejuice around the top cap, but the top-filling and top air flow have eliminated the leakage that I’ve experienced with many other tanks.
Other than that, the IKEN Kit does what it promises, and does it well. It’s solid, yet light weight and well built.
Looks: This is a decent looking kit. It’s not monstrous in size and it’s deceptively light weight. The colors are deep and rich. On the black edition, which I have, the silver logo keeps the whole thing classically understated. The triangular shape is sharp looking and the rounded corners make it comfortable in the hand.
Price/Value: The official Kangertech website shows the list price for the IKEN Kit as $71.90, but had it marked down to $61.90, though as of this writing they show it as sold out. Even if you had to pay full list for the IKEN Kit, it would be a decent buy. At ten dollars less it’s a no brainer. And I have seen it listed below $60 on several websites. So if you shop around a little the Kangertech IKEN Kit becomes a true bargain.
I’ve been using the IKEN Kit for a little over a month and have been very pleased with it. I’ve also tried it with the SMOK TFV8 a few times and the IKEN Mod has no trouble powering the SMOK coils, so if you already have a favorite tank and need to upgrade your mod the IKEN Kit would still be a solid buy.
I’ve always like Kangertech products, and they’ve been a regular review product supplier for Seven Report. But the IKEN Kit is about my favorite kit from Kangertech or any supplier to date.
