First Look: Kangertech CLTANK
Kangertech’s newest tank should be in stores in time for the EU TPD (Tobacco Product Directive) requirements for tanks which goes into effect in May. That tank is the CLTANK. Kangertech makes two versions of the CLTANK the 4.0 ml capacity (which will not be sold in the EU, since the TPD limits the capacity of tanks to 2.0 ml) and the EU compliant 2.0 ml capacity CLTANK. The “CL” in CLTANK stands for child lock, another component of the draconian EU TPD. Leak proof filling is another feature of the CLTANK mandated by the TPD.
This has to add to the desire for the UK to leave the EU. Revolutions have been started over far less. Just saying vapers in the EU.
The CLTANK comes with two coils, the new CLOCC (for child lock organic cotton coil). Installed in the tank is the 0.5 ohm stainless steel coil, which is rated for 15 – 60 watts. Kangertech also includes a 0.15 ohm Ni 200 coil.
The CLTANK is a top filler. Press down on the top of the tank and twist to open it. Then pull off the top. The coil will remain attached to the top of the tank, which seems like it may cause some dripping of ejuice. There is a single airflow slot that is adjustable. The CLTANK has a 510 connection. It’s available in red, black, silver and white.
I opened up the CLTANK, unscrewed the top and swapped out the factory installed stainless steel coil for the Ni 200 coil. Then I filled it with Temptation ejuice from Vapes Gone Wild, my hometown vape shop, and attached it to a Kangertech KBOX 200 watt mod.
I stared out with the KBOX set at 475° F and the vapor and flavor production were decent. I bumped it up to 490° F and vapor production increased and the flavor began to pop a little. Finally I tried it at 500° F and seemed to find the sweet spot for both flavor and vapor production.
Kangertech lists the MSRP on the CLTANK 4.0 at $28.90, but I’ve already seen it for pre-order at closer to $20.00. I’ll be using the CLTANK extensively for a week or so and then posting a full, in-depth review. If you follow Seven Report on Twitter or Facebook you’ll find out that way when the review is live.
