Have you ever been at a restaurant that has a salad bar? Why is it that at the end of so many salad bars, down by the croûtons and dressings there’s also pudding? Are people actually putting pudding on their salads? And how come it’s always pudding, never custard?
There is a difference, between pudding and custard. Generally that difference is the thickening agent. Now I’m talking about American style puddings and custards, not the English type. Most puddings use cornstarch as a thickener while custards use eggs. That explains why, again generally, custards are somewhat richer and thicker than puddings.
I don’t know why, but at least in my own personal experience custard seems to be much rarer than pudding. I can’t tell you the last time I actually ate custard. It’s not easy to find. Kraft, the makers of Jello puddings, used to offer custard mixes, but no longer lists them on their website. I did find a retailer website that listed a few varieties and the directions specify, “for richer custard, add 1 well-beaten egg yolk.” My guess is that’s a little too much trouble for some people. Shame, as I remember it, custard is an amazing dessert.
Thankfully custard is a favorite, and easy to find, variety of ejuice. Like the dessert, custard ejuice, at least in my experience, is rich and creamy. The first time I tried a custard ejuice I was amazed at how warm and thick the vapor the was, and the flavor was almost too rich and sweet for an all day vape, at least for me.
Deluxe Ejuice has a number of custard ejuices on their menu, and pudding ejuices as well, something I’ve not seen a lot of. They sent Sweet Strawberry Custard for review. Their website says, “We start with a light vanilla custard and blend in our very own Sweet Strawberry flavoring for a super delicious all day vape of Strawberry Custard! If you’re a fan of custard eliquids, this is most definitely a must try! Super smooth and sweet vape.”
The Numbers As Tested
Nicotine Level 6 MG
PG/VG Ratio 30/70
Sweet Strawberry Custard opens with a mildly sweet strawberry flavor on the inhale. Not too sweet, like a lot of strawberry ejuices. This ejuice has more of a natural strawberry sweetness with just a hint of fresh strawberry tartness. That strawberry is accompanied by a light, yet rich, cream note. On the exhale that cream taste really pops while the strawberry remains. The vapor is smooth and a little warm and the throat hit is mild. The aroma of Sweet Strawberry Custard is light, dominated by the custard/cream note, but there’s strawberry in there too.
Sweet Strawberry Custard is light enough to vape all day, for several days. I vaped it for about three days and never got tired of it. To me, it wasn’t as overpoweringly thick or heavy or sweet as some other custard ejuices. And that made it easier for me to keep vaping it, tank after tank after tank. It was especially enjoyable late in the day with a cup of coffee, when I could unwind, relax and enjoy this ejuice’s nuances.
If you enjoy strawberry and cream ejuices that taste like the real thing, you’ll definitely like Sweet Strawberry Custard. If your tastes in custard ejuices run toward the heavier variety, this may be a tad thin for you, but for me it was about just right.
Deluxe Ejuice packages Sweet Strawberry Custard in 10 ml, 15 ml, 30 ml and 120 ml bottles for $6.99, $7.99, $9.99 and $33.99. Available nicotine levels are 0 MG, 3 MG, 6 MG, 12 MG, 18 MG and 24 MG. You can get Sweet Strawberry Custard mixed in a wide range of PG/VG ratios.
I vaped Sweet Strawberry Custard in a VaporFi Volt Hybrid Tank on a VaporFi VOX II 50 watt mod. Deluxe Ejuice provided the bottle of Sweet Strawberry Custard I sampled for the purpose of this review.
