Root beer is one of those under appreciated flavors. In the soft drink world it always plays second (or third or fourth) fiddle to colas. In the candy world it’s way down on the list of favorite flavors, usually. No root beer flavored candy made the USA Today list of Top 50 Candies of All Time. But root beer barrels did come in at #1 on the less well know website’s, SweetCityCandy.com, list of All Time Top 5 Favorite Hard Candies.
Brach’s makes root beer barrels, Reeds makes a root beer candy that comes in a roll, and Cracker Barrel restaurants sell the old fashioned stick candy in a root beer flavor. And there are several root beer soft drink companies that market their own branded root beer barrels, A&W, Dad’s and IBC. Given the variety of root beer candy makers, I was a little surprised that I couldn’t find any in my local grocery stores in preparation for doing this review.
Turns out, it didn’t matter. One vape of Dura Smoke Root Beer Candy and it was like having one of those slightly sweet, mildly sharp hard candies rolling over my tongue. The official product description of Dura Smoke Root Beer Candy ejuice on the American eLiquid Store website is rather subdued, especially given the effusive descriptions for other ejuices I’ve read, and the striking resemblance of this ejuice to the candy for which it’s named, “Full of the flavors and scent of the iconic root beer candies, everyone is going to enjoy this flavor!”
The Numbers As Tested
Nicotine Level 6 MG
PG/VG Ratio 0/100
That minimalist description of Dura Smoke Root Beer Candy is spot on, one vape is all I needed to know what this ejuice was supposed to taste like. It’s mildly sweet with just a hint of the kick a good root beer packs. There’s a fine distinction between the taste of root beer the soft drink and root beer flavored candy. This ejuice is amazingly similar to to the latter. So much so that I found myself looking for those little cellophane wrappers the candies come in the first few time I vaped Root Beer Candy.
The vapor is smooth, with the tendency of a little tongue bite if you pull too hard. The throat hit is light. And the aroma is mild, but unmistakably that of a root beer barrel, pleasantly sweet.
Root Beer Candy is another one of those Dura Smoke ejuices that begs you to take just one more drag. I vaped through the bottle that American eLiquid Store sent in near record time. I vaped it throughout the day, never got tired of the taste and never found a time when the flavor wasn’t appropriate.
American eLiquid Store provided the bottle I sampled for the purpose of this review. They offer Dura Smoke Root Beer Candy in 10 ml and 30 ml bottles for $6.99 and $16.99 respectively. Nicotine levels are available in 6 MG increments from 0 to 24 MG. Dura Smoke features two label lines, the Blue Label (which I sampled) which is a 100 VG mix, and the Red Label that is a 50/50 PG/VG mix. I vaped Root Beer Candy in a Kangertech Subtank Nano powered by an Eleaf iStick.
