Pros

  • Authentic flavor
  • Tropical taste
  • Complex flavor profile

Cons

  • Mint tends to overpower some of the other flavors

There are some flavors that are love or hate. I get that. But when you love one of those flavors it can be perplexing when you hear someone say “I don’t like it.” Coconut is one of those flavors. And when someone tells me that they don’t like coconut I often quote the line from the movie It’s A Wonderful Life, spoken by a young George Bailey to a young Mary Hatch, who has just told him that she doesn’t like coconuts.

Don’t like coconuts? Say brainless, don’t you know where coconuts come from? Look it here, from Tahiti, the Fiji Islands, Coral Sea.”

Oddly, give my predisposition for coconut, I’ve not vaped many coconut flavored ejuices. If VaporFi’s Island Frost ejuice, one of the flavors in their Grand Reserve Collection, is any indication of how good coconut based ejuice can be, I’m going to be vaping them much more often. But my expectations are pretty realistic, Island Frost has set the bar pretty high.

But Island Frost isn’t just a coconut flavored ejuice. The VaporFi website describes it, “Like a brisk breeze on a tropical island, the contrasting flavors of this liquid are irresistible! An exotic selection of pineapple and coconut, with champagne-infused blueberries, muddled mint and lime garnish: this is an elixir whose sole intention lies in its desire to overwhelm your tastes! Too much of a good thing can be amazing!”

The Numbers As Tested

Nicotine Level      3 MG
PG/VG Ratio        30/70

I don’t know that I’d say Island Frost is too much of a good thing. But it is full-bodied, complex and full of flavor. Coconut is the first taste on the inhale, joined quickly by the juicy, tangy sweet flavor of fresh pineapple. Those two tropical sensations are backed with a little lime and a very subtle and bubbly blueberry.

On the exhale is where the mint really moves to the front of the flavor profile and it lingers just a little, almost washing away the memory of those other flavors, almost. The vapor of Island Frost is cool and smooth. The throat hit is mild and the aroma is refreshing, a little sweet, sort of tropical and minty.

To my tastes that mint gets a little more dominant at higher temperatures. And since I enjoy the combination of the coconut and pineapple more than the mint, I’ve been vaping it at slightly lower temperatures than I would otherwise. But Island Frost is an amazing taste sensation regardless of the temperature or wattage you set your mod to.

george bailey coconutsIf your tastes run to the tropical, you’re going to love Island Frost from the VaporFi Grand Reserve Collection. If you’re one of those vapers who doesn’t like coconut, well, I’d direct you to that quote from young George Bailey in It’s A Wonderful Life.
