First Look: SMOK T-Priv 3 Kit

SMOK continues to innovate, introducing new products and expanding existing product lines. DirectVapor sent the latest addition to the SMOK Priv series, the T-Priv 3 Kit. This kit includes the T-Priv 3 mod and the TFV12 Prince tank.

The SMOK T-Priv 3 mod is powered by three external 18650 batteries (not included). It will operate in variable wattage or temperature control mode. Wattage range is 6 – 300 watts and temperature range is 200° – 600°F or 100° – 315°C. The T-Priv 3 will fire Nickel 200, Titanium and Stainless Steel coils in temperature control mode.

Turn the mod on with 5 quick clicks of the fire key. Lock the device by clicking the fire key 5 times. When it’s locked, hold the fire key for 5 seconds and select “Power Off,” or enter the menu system by clicking the fire key 3 times and scroll to settings. In the menu you can choose your operating mode, variable wattage or temperature control and the type of temperature control coil you’re using, set the ramp up time and adjust TCR. You can also set a maximum number of puffs at which the mod will stop firing, change the color of the LED inside the mod, put the mod in stealth mode, adjust the contrast of the display and the display orientation and set up the mod for a firmware upgrade.

In variable wattage mode the display will show your selected wattage, resistance of the attached coil, selected ramp up effect, a triple battery life indicator, voltage and a puff timer. In TC mode the only difference in the OLED display is that it shows selected temperature and coil type instead of wattage and ramp up mode.

The SMOK TFV12 Prince tank, the Cloud Beast Prince, is a top filler with a capacity of 8 ml. It comes with the 0.4 ohm V12 Prince-Q4 coil installed. This is a quad coil with a wattage range of 40 – 100 watts and a best range of 60 – 80 watts. SMOK says the Q4 “brings you deep and rich vapor.” Also included in the package is a 0.12 ohm V12 Prince-T10 coil with a range of 60 – 120 watts and a best range of 80 – 110 watts. SMOK says the T-10 “brings you massive vapor and rich flavors.”

To change coils, unscrew the base of the tank and then unscrew the coil. Screw in a new coil, making sure it’s attached securely. Prime the coil and then screw the base into the chimney. Fill the tank and allow it sit for a minute or two to make sure the cotton is saturated. The TFV12 Prince has adjustable airflow at the base of the coil.

I left the V12 Prince-Q4 coil installed in the TFV12 Prince tank, primed the coil and filled the tank with Butter Rum ejuice from Vapes Gone Wild. I opened the adjustable airflow all the way and set the T-Priv 3 mod to 70 watts, right in the middle of the suggested best range for this coil.

Vapor output was what I’ve come to expect from the TFV family of tanks from SMOK, excellent. The flavor was full. That initial flavor from the organic cotton that most of the TFV coils have was present, but at a minimum and it burned off very quickly.

Next I upped the power to 75 watts. There was not a significant increase in vapor output, but the flavor did pop a little more at this setting. The T-Priv 3 is a solid device, feels substantial in my hand, maybe even a little on the heavy side. But I like that.

I’ll be using the SMOK T-Priv 3 Kit extensively and then will post a full, in-depth review. Follow Seven Report on Twitter and Facebook to make sure you don’t miss that review. DirectVapor supplied the SMOK T-Priv 3 Kit for the purpose of a Seven Report review. They have it listed for $67.95, including free shipping. Find out more about and order from DirectVapor.
