First Look: Kangertech TOPBOX Nano

Kangertech has added yet another starter kit to its growing line of mod and tank combos. This has been a busy year for Kangertech, they started 2015 with the introduction of their Subtank line. That was followed by their first box mod, the KBOX.

Shortly after that they revised the KBOX and packaged it with a color coordinated version of the Subtank and marketed it as the SUBOX Mini, followed by the SUBOX Nano. In October Kangertech introduced their first temperature control mod, the NEBOX, which features an internal 10 ml tank.

TOPBOX Nano contents 01Now they’ve introduced another temperature control device, the KBOX Nano TC and the new Toptank Nano top filling tank. Together they’ve packaged the pair as the TOPBOX Nano.

Kanger packages the TOPBOX Nano with the KBOX Nano TC 60 watt mod, the Toptank Nano, an extra Pyrex tank, micro USB charging cable, owner’s manual and three coils. There’s a 0.15 ohm Ni 200 SSOCC (stainless steel organic cotton coil), a 1.5 ohm SSOCC and a 0.5 ohm Clapton coil.

The KBOX Nano TC is powered by an external 18650 battery, not included, and has a spring loaded 510 connector. The battery can be charged while in the device via the micro USB port on the side of the unit using the included charging cable.

The mod has a variable wattage range of 7 – 60 watts in 0.1 watt increments. In temperature control mode it has a range of 100° – 300° Celsius in 5° increments and 200° – 600° Fahrenheit in 10° increments.

TOPBOX top off 01The new Toptank Nano can be used as a top fill or bottom fill tank, whichever you find more convenient. It has an ejuice capacity of 3.2 ml and a diameter of 18.5 mm.

The KBOX Nano TC turns on and off with five quick taps of the fire button. Once the unit is turned on press the fire button three times to switch from variable wattage mode to temperature control mode with a Ni 200 coil, three more times to select temperature control mode with a titanium coil and then three more times to return to variable wattage mode.

The “+” and “-” buttons are used to increase and decrease wattage or temperature, depending on which mode you’ve selected. Press both of those buttons to flip the OLED display 180°. Press the fire button and the “+” and “-” buttons all at the same time to lock or unlock the device.

In temperature control mode the OLED will display battery level, resistance of the attached coil, wattage, selected temperature and whether you’ve selected a Ni 200 or titanium coil. In variable wattage mode it displays battery level, resistance of the attached coil, voltage and selected wattage.

TOPBOX Nano box openI filled the Toptank Nano with Almond Delight ejuice from Vapes Gone Wild, put the Ni 200 coil in and tried a first vape. The sweet spot for this ejuice seemed to around 350° F. It put out a fair amount of vapor at this setting, a good deal more at 400° F, and it was much warmer at that higher temperature.

I’ll be using the TOPBOX Nano extensively for a week or so and come back with a full, in-depth review. If you follow Seven Report on Twitter or Facebook you’ll find out that way when that review is live.
